ForSMedia Achieves Oracle Exalytics Optimized & Oracle Big Data Appliance Optimized Status

FORS Development Center today announced it has earned Oracle Exalytics Optimized and Oracle Big Data Appliance Optimized status through Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN), demonstrating that ForSMedia version 2.3 has been tested and tuned on Oracle Exalytics In-Memory Machine and Oracle Big Data Appliance to deliver speed, scalability and reliability to customers. ForSMedia version 2.3 is an application developed by FORS Development Center for automated massive enrichment of customer profiles based on social networks data. It is designed to process a large number of initial customer records and extract new knowledge about these customers from the popular social media. Data discovery tools are provided to combine a wide variety of internal and external marketing and sales data to explore and visualize and identify patterns across sentiment, segmentation, campaigns, advertising, promotions, and purchasing behavior. FORS Development Center is a Platinum level member of Oracle PartnerNetwork.

The following objectives were defined for the proof of value testing: to shorten the sales and product deployment cycles, to target mid/large and territory customers, through improved capacity and to build the customer SLA based on world best practices. The most crucial ForSMedia functions were selected for testing on Oracle Exalytics In-Memory Machine and Oracle Big Data Appliance, including customer identification in social networks, data acquisition and enrichment, loading to a Data Discovery platform with the further data analysis and visualization.

The test results revealed 20x faster performance of social media data loading & parsing with 10 000 customer profiles identified in 1,5 min instead of 2 hours on baseline system. Data and text enrichment ran 10x faster along with 10x larger amount of data processed at data discovery server. An average response time was reduced at least 2x. Testing was completed in 15 days.

ForSMedia is based on Big Data Technologies, using Cloudera Distribution of Apache Hadoop (CDH) and Oracle Endeca Information Discovery. The current version ForSMedia 2.3 is working on Oracle Linux 6.x and certified for CDH 5.x and Oracle Endeca Information Discovery 3.1.
